Fredrick Barton, MD

Dr. Barton is a radiation oncologist with extensive experience in the treatment of a wide range of malignancies. He treats all adult malignancies where radiation therapy plays a role. He is currently the only radiation oncologist in Lake County offering treatment for head and neck cancers. He also has a special interest in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, breast cancer and lymphoma. He routinely sees patients from Lake, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Ashtabula counties. Dr. Barton works for University Hospitals of Cleveland and sees patients exclusively at the Lake Hospital/University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center in Mentor Ohio

Dr. Barton is from Northeastern Ohio. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1981 and has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1989. He served in the United States Air Force from 1993 to 1997. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. He and his wife live in Lake County, and are proud of their four children and four grandchildren.

Dr. Barton’s approach to the treatment of cancer is based upon ethics and science. “Every patient is different and every treatment program must be custom-designed to meet the medical, emotional, and social needs of the patient and their family”, says Dr. Barton. He is proud to be able to offer university-level cancer care in the community, and provide his patients with top quality cancer care without the hassles and hardships of driving downtown. He enjoys educating his patients about nature of their disease, treatment options, and side effects.
