When facing a diagnosis of cancer, many patients find comfort in their faith, and support in their religion. We believe that tending to these patients’ spiritual needs is an important part of providing care for their complete mental and physical health. Patients who belong to a congregation should certainly stay in touch with their religious leaders.
For patients who are unchurched, however, our spiritual care counselors are available to bend a compassionate ear, or engage in prayer with patients upon request. The Rev. Tim Potter (pictured left) is pastor of Grace Church in Mentor and the leader of spiritual care for Lake Health/University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. He and the Rev. Kent Hobie share an office at our Mentor facility. They offer on-site, non-denominational spiritual care counseling on most Tuesdays and Thursdays, and are willing to visit patients’ homes if invited.
Please call our center at (440) 205-5755 to schedule an appointment with one of our spiritual counselors. If you wish to speak directly to our counselors, the phone number for our spiritual care office is (440) 205-5445.
