Counseling Services

Cancer can affect more than just a patient’s health. The stress of managing any oncological disease can have a negative impact on a patient’s peace of mind, which can start to affect relationships among families, with friends, and at work.

To help our patients and their families cope with these effects, Lake Health/University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center offers counseling services for patients and their supporters. Our Social Workers provide counseling services in our Mentor offices, at the same location where our patients receive medical treatment, for their travel and scheduling convenience.

You can begin counseling services in one of two ways:

  • One of our doctors, nurses, or other staff assess that you show signs of stress, and may suggest an introductory counseling evaluation session.
  • You can refer yourself! You know yourself better than anyone else; please come see us if you feel that you’re having difficulties with your medical situation, with other family members, or with any other life concerns. We want to help before you experience an emotional crisis.

We offer as much or as little counseling support as needed: you can schedule a one-time-only visit or sign up for ongoing weekly sessions, individually or in a group. We also offer counseling to spouses, family members, and other patient supporters, who may find it convenient to meet with the counselor at the same time the patient is undergoing a treatment session.

For more information, contact Kelli DiPippo, LSW at (440) 205-5464 or Andrea Quinn, LSW at (440) 255-5528.

You can also join one of the many support groups available for patients, family members and caregivers.

We want you to live your life to the fullest each and every day and we are here to support you along the way.

Fundraising efforts throughout the year help LH/UH Seidman Cancer Center continue to carry out our mission to provide world-class cancer care and oncology services to residents within driving distance of Mentor and Lake County.
